Launched in 1981 by executives from the Rossignol ski company, Merrell set out to create affordable, high-performance hiking boots for the everyday wearer allover the world and by the early 1990s the brand were selling over 300,000 pairs of shoes a year. This expansion led to distribution further afield and with it the establishment of bases across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, bringing the boots to 22 different countries by 1995.
2007 saw Merrell cater towards a more fashion-conscious consumer with the launch of both their apparel and accessories collections which has gone from strength to strength ever since, and by 2010 the brand had products being sold across 151 different countries. The development of the now iconic "Jungle Moc" and "Moab" shoes has propelled Merrell to the pinnacle of outdoor footwear and clothing and both models remain popular today.
